Feel More Authentic for the Holiday Season

This four-week therapy skills-building group offers a space for adults in New York who want a different way to navigate holiday relationships.

Each week will combine focused education, guided reflection, and small-group practice around real, manageable holiday situations.

Facilitated by Sabrina Luciano, LCSW and Jonathan Berg, LCSW

Do holiday plans leave you saying yes before you know what you want? Does someone else's disappointment quickly turn into guilt, overexplaining, or second-guessing?

The hardest part of boundaries is often not knowing what to say. It is staying connected to yourself when someone you care about wants something different.

This is not simply an assertiveness class or a workshop about learning to say no. It is an active, professionally guided therapeutic space where you will develop practical tools for making relational choices while staying connected to yourself and the people who matter to you.

Core Focus Areas

  • Practical Boundary Tools: Clear frameworks to sort through competing wants, obligations, and expectations and make more intentional holiday decisions.

  • Nervous System Regulation: Grounded practices to stay present when guilt, anxiety, urgency, or anticipated disappointment begins to take over.

  • Clear Communication Strategies: Practical structures for making requests, redirecting conversations, and setting limits without overexplaining, defending, or persuading.

  • Guided Practice: Structured small-group exercises to rehearse real holiday situations and build confidence navigating discomfort and pushback.

  • Personalized Takeaway Plans: Simple tools for preparing for difficult decisions, recognizing your boundary alarm, planning what to say, and knowing how to respond when someone pushes back.

  • Repair Tools: Concrete ways to take responsibility for how something was communicated without automatically retracting the underlying need or boundary.

Staying Connected To What Matters: The Role of a Group

While individual therapy offers deeper personal exploration, group work creates an opportunity to practice boundaries where they actually happen: in relationship with other people.

Through small-group practice, participants learn to remain connected to their own wants, limits, and choices while navigating the feelings and expectations of others.
